The cross-flow square cooling tower is a type of industrial cooling equipment where water flows vertically downward and air passes horizontally through it to complete heat exchange. With its features of low noise, easy maintenance, and compact structure, it has become one of the mainstream options for industrial circulating water and commercial air conditioning systems.
Core Working Principle
Hot water is evenly distributed from the top of the tower through a water distribution system, flowing vertically downward through the packing layer by gravity. Fans drive air to enter horizontally from both sides of the tower, passing laterally through the packing material and making a 90° perpendicular cross-flow contact with the water stream. During this process, part of the water evaporates, absorbing a large amount of latent heat, while sensible heat is transferred through temperature differences, achieving rapid cooling of the water. The cooled water falls into a bottom collection basin for recycling, while the heat-absorbed humid air is expelled from the top of the tower.
